Our take on the Belgian golden strong style uses the same distinctive yeast which ironically originates from Scotland. Duvel harvested this yeast culture from bottles of McEwans scotch ale in 1918. The return of this yeast to a Scottish brewery is therefore well overdue. In this Scottish homage to the style, we utilised Golden Promise malt, plain beet sugar and hibiscus. The flavour profile from the yeast provides intense fruity esters with pear, apple and spice. The hibiscus adds a touch of citrus/berry fruit and an intense reddish pink hue
